Another Tall Order for Darlington High Risers
High level maintenance specialists, Stone Technical Services, based in Darlington, have secured more work in the south east as the company continue to grow across the UK.
Stone has been awarded the contract to carry out stack inspections of two 27 meter high brick chimneys at the Port of Sheerness, part of Medway Ports, in Kent.
Stone beat off competition to secure the contract thanks to its experience and knowledge of industrial plants.
Stone Technical Services is a UK leader in the field of high level maintenance, safety systems and lightning conductor installation and works with organisations such as Cummins, BASF, INEOS Plant Utilities and BAE Systems.
This new contract will allow Stone to further grow its operation both in the North East and in Pinner, Middlesex where it opened an office in March 2008.
The company has completed a number of high profile contracts in the south on buildings such as Selfridges on Oxford Street and the Royal College of Music in South Kensington and for organisations such as London Wildlife Trust. In addition Stone is the appointed contractor managing structural and high level maintenance repairs and lightning conductor installation at St Paul’s Cathedral.
Since opening in Pinner in March 2008, Stone has seen its business in the region increase by around 30%. In total Stone employs 21 people both in Pinner and at its newly opened headquarters in Darlington, County Durham.
The company celebrated ten years in business in 2008 and, as well as offering all aspects of high level maintenance and lightning conductor installation, also specialises in steeplejack services and the restoration of churches and historic buildings, as well as services related to industrial steeplejacks.
More jobs are planned for 2009 as Stone hopes to open regional offices to handle the growing number of contracts around the UK.
Dave Stone, who runs the company with his brother Grahame, said: “Our business in continuing to grow around the UK where our unique services are in high demand. The increase in the number of new contracts means that we are able to continually re-invest in our north east headquarters and create more jobs, which we plan to do this year.
“Opening an office in the south east has proved to be an excellent investment as it means we can compete more readily for contracts in the south as we have a thorough knowledge of the needs of the area. As we continue to win more work around the UK, we are planning to invest further in more regional offices throughout 2009.”
